Spring became Winter again... A lot of stuff is happening.

So I was going to talk about a bunch of things this week, however I have very little time to work on this blog this week. I have other writing that I need to get done for school and other stuff. But I will cover these topics this week... Indigenous People walking off the set of Adam Sandlers new movie and why that is such a big deal.  Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner "joking" calling Black Widow a slut and a whore. Game of thrones last week, and Sailor Moon Crystal. Also a quick review of some of the newer cartoons my roommates nephews where watching on cartoon network.  I need to catch up on my other shows once that is done then I will have a special update. Okay so here we go.......

So Netflicks and Adam Sandler are making " comedy" about the wild west. When we first heard about this we heard that they were hiring a cultural adviser to help the movie not be a completely racist piece of shit. They even  went as far as http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/2015/04/23/jokes_in_adam_sandler_movie_the_ridiculous_six_were_so_offensive_native.html?wpsrc=fol_fb
hiring real Native actors. We ( meaning the Native community) were happy about this. Then this week happened. SO 20+ Native actors walked off the set of the movie. Saying that the jokes were racist and the set was culturally inappropriate. The Native actors tried to talk to the producers who call the actors " you people" that if they were offend they could just leave. As a Native person I'm pissed off that we have to put up with racist stereotyping and jokes. People act like this form of humor is okay, it dehumanizes a whole group of people. We do not need people like Adam Sandler or do we need these kinds of movies? We are some of the most talented, beautiful, amazing people on  \earth and we do not deserve to be treated this way. I don't want my daughter to think that this behavior towards her people is acceptable. It's the 21st century we should be past racist stereotypes for cheap laughs. And for the people that call it satire, true satire is meant to be a evaluation of society. This is can be done without being racist. And Why did they get a cultural adviser if they wren't going to listen to what they had to say. A boycott of netflicks has been put into place.

Now for Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner and their remarks on Black Widow. Now some people have expressed that people shouldn't care about what two actors say about a fictional female comic book superhero. But it does. It matters a lot.  Like it or not the moment Chris and Jeremy became superheros they became role models for young people everywhere. Now people aren't perfect and they will fuck up, but once again calling someone a slut and whore is uncalled for. Renner has been known to say the occasional mean word here and there, but Chris Evans we thought he was bigger then this. and his actions has hurt a lot of people. The point is that misogynist remarks if its about a real person or a fictional it still does damage. I think this article that Black Nerd Problems released sums it up nicely. http://blacknerdproblems.com/site/black-widow-is-a-whore-why-you-deserve-to-be-judged-by-your-opinions-on-fictional-women/  I'm glad that both Renner and Evans apologized. I think Evens apology was a little more heartfelt,

Episode review time!!   Warning Spoilers!!!

1.) Game of Thrones season 5 episode 2:
The season opener gave us a whole lot of dude time. We got to finally see the House of Black and White and Arya. I feel like we are seeing Arya coming into her purpose. Like this was planned out for her since she started her "Dancing lessons" with Syrio Forel  I think Jaqen H'ghar Has had a hand in this also. I was happy to see that the faceless man turn into Jaqen. He has big plans for Arya, I wonder if Arya is up to the challenge. I think one day she is going to become one of the Faceless killers, and then she is going to do a whole lot of killing. On to Sansa and her stupid head. I'm not really sure what they are doing with Sansa and why she met with Brienne. She hasn't even met her in the books yet, in the books Sansa is still at the Vale playing around with Robin. Brienne needs to figure out how to get on team Sansa. I'm really enjoy watching Brienne fight. She uses the power of her anger behind her fighting style. The relationship that she is developing with Podrick developing slowly. Which is fine in all I just want them to be best friends already. I hope at some point Brienne and Jamie will meet up again. Jamie began his own quest this past episode he is on his way to Dorne. We saw a bit of Dorne in this episode, We got to see the Lord Prince of Dorne Doran Martell. I picture him a little older and more broken in the books. Ellaria Sand is still in mourning and still pissed off. Which is a good thing means we might see some kind of plan to get her revenge. I hope that as the season progresses we will get to see more of Dorne. Only because it is a place within the story that we do no get to see often.

2.)  Sailor Moon Crystal episode 20:
In the last episode we met Sailor Pluto and the time gate to the 30th century. The whole point of this last episode was to finally tell the viewer who Chibi Usa is. And Why she has the same name and hairstyle of Usagi. I really don't understand why this is even need... I mean her name is Chibi Usagi, She has the same hair as Usagi, Logically it ya know makes sense that she would be the child of Usagi. But whatever. I like this episode because one: we got to see more of Sailor Pluto and her awesomeness. and Two: Tuxedo Mask was actually useful. I like that they are taking to the manga version of Tuxedo Mask. He actually serves the purpose, besides standing around giving advice to the people doing all the fighting. I still haven't heard anything with how many episodes they are going to be doing of Sailor Moon Crystal. I would like to see the rest of the outer sailors.

3.) Other random Cartoons on Cartoon Network:
Okay so... Like What the Fuck is Uncle Grandpa? It's a horrible. There is no point to the show. Nothing to really enjoy story wise. It's just loud nonsense. Then there is the World of Gumball. This show is a little better. There is somewhat of a story and the jokes are sometimes funny. But most of the time I really don't understand whats happening in the show. Then there is Steven Universe which at first I thought I wasn't going to like it. But once you get into the story it's a really good show. Right up there with Adventure Time. I figured that most of these shows are not meant for my age range and therefore that is why I don't understand them. I don't think I would let Kora watch Uncle Grandpa.

Well I think that is it. I hope that I can get this out sooner then the weekend next week. Plus I hope to have caught up on other shows.

This Weeks stuff. The Fight for 15 and More Geek stuff

So this week I had a lot of running around to do. It took me four fucking hours to get my state ID. They do everything in their power to make it hard on people to get the necessary paperwork to get things like Ids and such. First off I walked like five miles to get there. I mean that's not too far of a walk for me, but it's sucks when you walk somewhere and they tell you that they cant help you because the mail you have isn't good enough proof of who you are. But I got the ID in the end, it just took me forever. Then on the 15th it was the Fight for 15 March here in Chicago. I was glad to see so many people out standing in solidarity with these workers. I even took my baby girl with me, she freaking loved every bit of the action. She really liked the buckets that people were using as drums during the March. I hope that the Fight for 15 movement continues to grow and more people join the strikes. The working class needs a living wage. People need to be able to take care of their families no matter what job they are doing. Fast food workers to professor people should have a living wage. It also reminded me that we that May Day coming up in like two weeks.

Now for the fun stuff...  Some spoilers ahead...

1.) I watch the first episode of Daredevil on Netflixs. It was a little slow at first and the quality of acting was a little hooky at times, but it picked up towards the middle of the show. I've been reading good things all week about this first season of the show. I've even read that it's better then Arrow right now. So we shall see. I going to try to watch more this weekend.

2 .) The second Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer came out and the whole world went woohoo!!!

So I love hearing Mark Hamill's voice, there's something about listening to a familiar quote from a familiar voice, it gives you the warm fuzzes. Then we get to see the one Black storm trooper....I hope he actually has a story in the movie and they are not just showing him for no good reason.  Then ending with Han and Chewie is even better. Gives the trailer that nerd girl squee moment that everyone wants.

3.) Disney's live action Beauty and the Beast cast Photo was released. Not much to report here other then it looks like an amazing cast so far. Emma Watson as Belle is a good call. I wonder if there will be singing?

4.) Game of Thrones season 5 opener. Left me feeling really kind of upset, like that is what we have been waiting for? I like how it opened Seeing the flashback, but then I felt that the episode kind of just rode the wave of setting up the rest of the season without really giving us anything to be wowing over this episode. I guess we had a death, but a death of a person that not too many fans are invested in.So it was whatever. I guess that it does setup a sense of What's going to happen now Jon Snow? Like what are you going to do? but Nothing too big. I'm hoping this weeks episode we get to see Dorne and we get to see Arya.

The Last Few Weeks and This week

So the reason why I haven't updated this in a while, is because the last two weeks I had midterms and the mayoral elections here in Chicago. Studying for midterms while having a 5 mother old is hard work. I have worked two jobs while going to school full time, but a baby is just as hard. The biggest difference is that I have fun watching my little one grow. She is needing more of my time everyday. Needing more play, more food, more everything :) but that's okay like I said it's fun. But back to school I question why I'm even trying to finish this program is not really what I want to do with my life. But I feel like my real dreams are too lofty and not obtainable. So do I stay in for five more years and finish this up? I want to be able to provide for my family the best way. Anyways So this past Tuesday was election night here in Chicago. It came to a not so awesome end. Rahm Emmanul is still our Mayor here. Which sucks hardcore he is going to continue his hurtful polices on the poor and take away from the neighborhoods that need the most help. We worked really hard to get Chuy elected but when you are going up against big money like Rahm has it's always going to be a hard fight. Low voter turn out and racism also played a role. I just hope that this will at least pave the way for a better city some how. A lot of progressives did win alderman seats so that is a good step in the right direction. Now it's planning for the 15th and the Fight for 15 strikes. This mayoral race also shows how much work that we will be facing in the 2016 election season. So I hope people are gearing up for that!!

Now for the fun stuff! :)

Lots of neat stuff has happen or is happening in the geek word. My next comments will have spoilers so if you are not caught up on the last week's Flash episode, The end of season 5 of The Walking Dead, Sailor Moon Crystal episode 19 or Game of thrones season 4 cause this weekend is start of season 5 of GOT. okay here we go.....

1.) Last weeks Flash episode was pretty good. I enjoyed seeing Mark Hamill as a villain. He is by far my favorite animated Joker. I'm not a huge fan of time travel plots in shows, only because they can be really cheese and doesn't fallow timelines that make much sense, but so far this show is doing a very good job. I just hope they can keep it up.

2.) The end of season 5 of The Walking Dead. Now I was going to talk about a lot of stuff on this point but I think I'm just going to keep it short. Mostly because it would be like five pages lol. So I think Sasha is going to die next season only because with how they opened the episode with her basking in a pit of walkers. I feel bad for her, but if she can't keep her shit together maybe she need to go.The pastor dude Gabriel needs to die, he needs to be like dead a long time ago. Keeping gates open and shit! Fuck you guy!  Rick is still loosing it a stuff, I think next season you will be seeing Rick more in Charge and maybe even  training the people of the safe zone. Seeing Morgan again was awesome, he's even more awesome and living by the old "Rick code" I'm looking forward to see how he's going to fit in with the team. Glen is a bad ass and I hope he lives forever and ever. I love Glen. I'm sure we will be seeing more of him and his not so bad ass wife Maggie. I wanted to see more from Carol but that's okay she did a lot this last season. I know that next season the " family" is going to be facing one of their worst foes. We will have to wait until the fall for that to start, however we will be getting a brand new "Walking Dead" spin off this summer. I will be talking about that show here as well.

3.) Sailor Moon Crystal episode 19: So we are almost done with the Black moon arc of the show and they showed the amazing Sailor Pluto in the last episode. The animation was about the same as it has been the whole run of the show. There is this part where you see Diana the cat and it looks like her eye is about to pop off. I'm glad that they are not wondering too far away from the manga. I  loved seeing Pluto. I wish they would have made he skin darker like it is in the manga. I wonder how long they are going to keep this new Sailor moon thing going.

4.)Game of Thrones season 5 starts this Sunday!!!
Last season we saw some debts get paid for the Lannisters. Hopefully we shall see some more of that. I wonder how far they are going to fallow Cersei and her story. Also what about Sansa? how far are they going to go with her? But enough about them let's talk about Arya and her story! Arya is on her way to Braavos  and she is going to transform in so many ways I hope they take the time to tell her story. Let's see what else will we see this season... Dragons and white people's butts...um... maybe Dorne and some more of the House Martell which I hope they show a lot of Dorne and the Martell's. I love the Martell's. We should be seeing Myrcella Baratheon at some point there has been hype of the new actress playing her. I hope we see some Brienne she was given Oathkeeper and is now looking for Sansa. I hope that they take the time to show her story. I will continue to write about this. I'm going to be doing live tweeting during the show so watch out for that!

Okay well that's it for this week I'm going to try to update this every Thursday. I hope we shall see.
